75th birthday for St Mark's
ST Mark's church in Pinhoe Road will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with a Eucharist service. The church was consecrated by the Bishop of Exeter on October 9, 1937.
St Mark's has held a number of celebratory events over the past few months to mark the anniversary, and this will culminate with a celebration Eucharist on October 7 at 6pm, at which the Bishop of Exeter will preside. The event will finish with a champagne and cake reception.
The service is open to all people with links to the church, with several previous vicars and clergy attending and around 150 to 200 guests are expected to be present.
Raymond Slack, who is helping with the running and organisation of the event, said: "It is a good opportunity to celebrate, we want as many people as possible who have a connection with the church to join our celebration."

For the past 75 years the church has aimed to support people through all stages of life, when they may be in need of comfort, help or in spiritual need. Raymond emphasised that the church is "here for the people". Celebration events have included a wedding weekend, a songs of praise, a diamond jubilee BBQ and a photography competition which is due to be announced before the Eucharist service.
