Angling from across Mid and East Devon, and here in Exeter
EXETER ASSOCIATION
THE Exeter Association ponds at Kia Ora, Cullompton and at Sampford Peverell have been attracting members who have caught a variety of fish.

The Gold pond at Kia Ora continues to produce lots of carp from a number of swims. A fish scaling 17lb was caught by one member, who tempted it on corn hookbait at peg four.
The same peg produced a catch of 13 carp for an angler legering boilies across towards the island.
Prospects remain excellent for anyone planning to visit the fishery.
SAMPFORD PEVERELL
Sampford Peverell deep pond has been fairly popular with members who have taken a variety of fish. Peg one on the straight bank gave one angler a catch of several carp to 7lb plus small skimmers and a few roach.
The River Exe at Haven Banks and Bonhay Road continues to attract anglers who have caught some nice fish. Three anglers fished at peg one, two and three below Cricklepit Bridge with feeder tackle. Duncan Hill on peg two used worm and red maggots on a 16 hook and caught 10 roach plus a nice bream of 7lb 4oz that fell to three white maggots.
On peg one was Dave Walton, who used a waggler float and baited with red maggots. He had a few roach plus some skimmer bream.
Zac Newton fished peg three with feeder tackle and red maggot hookbaits. He had skimmers and quality roach to 12oz.
The same swims were fished by Roly Palmer, Alan Davis and his son Kingsley on Sunday. Once again the feeder found fish and they had catches up to 10lb, made up of roach, skimmers, hybrids, dace and a rudd of 8oz.
The Bonhay Road length has produced fish this week including a bream around the 7lb mark from peg three.
The angler also had several roach on stick float with maggots presented just a rod length out.
A session just before dark gave Brian Sussex a catch of 16 dace plus his first ever Barrel around the 12oz mark. He float fished with maggots.
Another angler, fishing peg six with waggler float and caster hookbaits, had 16 roach to 8oz plus a few dace during a morning session.
The river had a nice steady flow and an upstream wind for perfect presentation.
The tidal River Exe above Countess Wear Road bridge produced good catches last week in the competition held there.
Numerous quality dace featured so local angler Andy Bulled thought he would enjoy a session there targeting the species.
Fishing a good area on peg six, he used a waggler float with maggot hookbaits but failed to find one of the species.
He did manage to catch nine chub up to 1lb 8oz. The fish certainly move around on the tidal length and it could be because of the masses of cormorants currently working along the river there.
LUCCOMBE PONDS
Luccombe ponds at Exminster have remained quite popular particularly last weekend when good numbers of fish were caught.
Exeter angler Mike Muir fished on Birch pond where he legered with corn hookbaits to catch commons of 8lb, 9lb 8oz and 14lb plus an 11 mirror and a few small fish.
Alan Monk, of Exeter, had an 8lb mirror on Oak pond where he legered meat.
Four-year-old Archie Monk fished with a short whip pole and maggot baits. He caught 10 perch, tench, roach and rudd up to 1lb 8oz.
Fishing a 24-hour session on Ash pond, Gary Jenkins, of Exeter, had commons of 8lb and 10lb plus a 13lb mirror.
He caught the fish on legered strawberry flavoured pellets. Colin Hancock and his grandson Kiral Battishill fished on several ponds at the fishery and they caught nine commons plus five mirrors. Float and leger tactics, with a variety of baits, accounted for the fish.
A competition held on Sycamore pond saw Chris Barrell, of Exeter, top score with a 14lb 6oz net of carp and skimmers.
He pole fished with two red maggots on the hook over micro pellets and maggot feed.
Runner-up was Peter Barrell, who had 5lb 4oz of skimmer bream caught on a pole with red maggot baits.
Jamie Goodfellow followed with a level 4lb made up of three carp taken on the pole with red maggots.
UPHAM COARSE FISHERY
Fishing a night session on pond seven at Upham coarse fishery, Honiton angler Marley McRae tempted a 20lb common carp along with other doubles. He had them on boilie baits.
Also fishing on pond seven was Exeter angler Archie Mallettt, who took fish scaling 11lb 8oz, 12lb and 13lb. He had them all on white chocolate flavoured boilies.
Pond six fished well for Nigel Johns, of Exmouth, who had 16 carp to 8lb plus a single tench of 1lb 8oz. Float fished meat baits proved the successful combination.
Exeter's Peter Wilde also fished on pond six where he used float tackle and baited with pellets. He had 12 carp plus several skimmer bream.
George Boyes, of Exmouth, had a catch made up of 15 carp to 9lb 9oz at a swim on pond four. He caught them on the float with corn, mussels and prawn hookbaits.
Pond three has been in very good form and one angler had 40 carp on float tackle with corn and meat baits.
Spires lakes at North Tawton are fishing very well and have been very popular with anglers. On the Higher lake lots of carp are being caught and notably corn has been a popular bait. The best fish scaled 18lb 6oz but there have been numerous fish around the mid double mark. Surface fished chum mixers have still tempted some carp.
NEWTON ABBOT FISHING CLUB
Newton Abbot club members have been catching a variety of fish from most of their ponds at Rackerhayes, Bradley and Key.
Carp anglers fishing on the vast Dores pond have had fish to around the 25lb mark on legered boilies.
Big bream up to the 9lb mark are being caught from Dores on feeder tackle or slider float. Pole-fished casters and maggots have produced some roach and perch from the same water.
On the Island pond legered boilies and pellets have taken carp to the mid-double range.
The odd tench to 8lb has been caught from Linhay pond where pole or float fished pellets, casters and corn have been successful baits.
Occasional tench plus roach are showing from the First pond.
Fishing has been harder for anglers fishing at Key pond but a few roach and skimmers and the odd good perch have offered some sport.
An angler fishing on Bradley pond had a nice net of skimmer bream totalling 18lb. They were caught on a pole with meat bait.
TIVERTON FISHING CLUB
Tiverton club members travelled up to Somerset to fish at Summerhayes fishery for their latest event.
Catches were consistent and a winning 40lb net was recorded by match secretary Bruce Hunt, who won £40.
He caught 11lb 8oz of bream, skimmers, tench and a crucian on a pole at nine metres with small paste hookbaits.
The bulk of the catch was carp which he caught on a 14.5 metre pole, with paste presented close to the bank.
Runner-up was Gary Butler who had a catch of silver fish and carp totalling 26lb 8oz. He fed micro pellets at 12 metres and baited with paste or pellets to take the fish, winning him £30 prize money.
Third angler was Paul Elworthy on 24lb 6oz. He caught skimmers, tench and crucian carp for a 14lb total and added small carp to around the 10oz mark to complete the catch.
Pole-fishing at 12 metres with paste over pellet feed produced his catch.
The other leading anglers were Mark Robinson (23lb 12oz), Alison Robinson (23lb 2oz) and Ray King had (21lb 6oz). Tiverton club members have booked the tidal River Exe at Countess Wear for a competition on Sunday.
GOODIFORD FISHERY
Goodiford fishery match lake was in top form for a sweepstake event fished by 13 anglers.
Top individual, with a superb 196lb 4oz, was Exeter's Zac Newton, who took the £65 prize.
He caught carp steadily with the best around the 3k mark.
Runner-up spot went to Paul Homewood, of Jinx EAC, who put 166lb 15oz on the scales at peg three and won £40.
He also fished a carp waggler float and presented banded pellets shallow to catch carp to 3k.
Andy Bulled on peg six followed in third place with an all carp catch taken on float tactics with pellet baits. He had 153lb 9oz and won £25 in prize money. Kevin Diment, on peg four, scaled 130lb 15oz for fourth place and he was followed by Matt Flavin and Gary Thornton.
EXPRESS & ECHO LEAGUE

CREEDY LAKES
Great form at Creedy this past week with generally better sized bags together with some good sized catches. All banks have tempted good fish with greater action past noon each day although some action early mornings.
Topping the catches this week was Carl Bovey who caught a common carp of 25lbs 2oz — the heaviest fish of the week.
Mike Williams, of Exeter Angling Centre, reported a good session whilst fishing the right hand bank and his best catch scaled 24lbs 2oz.
Axminster angler Tristan Wakeley started his session off slowly but landed a total of 16 fish.
Topping his catches was an 18lbs 3oz common and his bag consisted of 14 doubles and a pair of single figures.
Steven Wakeley,of Axminster, also enjoyed a good day session and banked three good sized commons, including a 17lbs 11oz one together with a green tench.
Exeter's Roger Bowskill fished Creedy recently and reported a good day session banking 10 fish in total up to 20lbs 8oz whilst fishing from the shelf swim of the far bank.
Heaviest mirror carp catch for the week of 16lbs 4oz was banked by Tiverton's Andy Shute.
He also tempted two double figure commons, all from the right hand bank.
Honiton angler Jon Lilley landed himself a new personal best catch when he tempted his 19lbs 3oz common carp.
SOUTH VIEW FARM
Good catches of carp have been seen over recent days over the three pools and the heavy rain of late has spurred the fish on more keenly to feed.
Willow pool gave John Norman 11 carp to 12lb on legered sweetcorn over freebies. Andrew Wakeman had seven carp to 10lb on floatfished bread.
Kingfisher pool gave Stephen Hird 20 carp to include a 12lb mirror carp to method feeder and sweetcorn.
Brad Mansfield had six carp to 8lb on the same approach. Heron pool gave Fred Smith 11 carp to 7lb on legered pellet or corn.
