I AM sorry that David Weston, Poverty is a bigger issue than hunting, Points of view, January 17, finds our letters boring.

Perhaps he does not realise what motivates the anti-hunt lobby. I have heard some pretty ludicrous arguments from our opponents, such as class envy etc.

We are motivated by compassion, and the same feeling encompasses unfortunate children, old people who have to choose between food and heating, as well as the killing of birds and animals for pleasure and profit, in short, all victims of abuse and exploitation.

As for Mr Weston's remark that we have got most of what we asked for, it is not enough.

The hunt ban has taken many years to secure and must be enforced.

Then we can turn our attention to other forms of cruelty in the countryside.

Make no mistake, we shall not cease campaigning until it has all been consigned to history.

“"Then we can turn our attention to other forms of cruelty in the countryside" .......... Exactly!
    .
The man who enjoys fishing at the end of a Pier will be targetted one day - as cruelty to fish!”
