Apprentices among firm's new recruits
LOGISTICS business Gregory Distribution has created 27 new jobs at its Cullompton depot – including two apprenticeships.
The jobs follow a storage and picking contract awarded by British Ceramic Tile (BCT), which is expanding manufacturing output at its factory in Heathfield, near Newton Abbot.

The new full-time, permanent jobs include team leaders, warehouse staff and administrative posts.
Gregory has also taken on two new business administration apprentices. April Littlejohn, 21, has joined the transport team in Gregory's distribution business unit while 18-year-old Natalie Peek has joined the training and support team.

Both will take a Level II apprenticeship overseen by Petroc college in Tiverton and comprising a Technical Certificate and NVQ studies in English, mathematics and IT. Darren Beaven, business unit director, said: "The new BCT contract is excellent news for Gregory. It has not only created 27 new jobs but requires considerable new investment at our Cullompton depot in terms of new racking, new mobile handling equipment and an extension to one of the exiting buildings. We were quite overwhelmed to have received almost 150 applications for the jobs available.
"We are particularly delighted to welcome April and Natalie. Apprentices represent a key investment for us which help to lay the foundations for the business's future growth.
"The BCT contract is also likely to create four additional apprenticeships going forward and these will help ensure we have a homegrown skill resource to manage the challenges and opportunities of the future."
