Baird's Crucible hopes are ended
SAM Baird's hopes of playing in the World Championships ended in defeat in his second qualifying match.
The 21-year-old, from Uffculme, fouled on the final black to give Joe Delaney the chance to wrap up a 10-0 win on Tuesday night.
The world No. 63 needed just a single frame in the evening session to go into the next round as he won all nine frames in the morning at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Former Halberton player Baird won his opening match in the qualifying tournament on Sunday as a break of 103 saw him come from behind to beat Stephen Rowlings 10-6.
