Bishop of Exeter: "Churches are responding to those in need after floods"
Prayers have been said for people suffering following flooding in Devon.
A special prayer has been written and is available for all churches to use on the diocesan website www.exeter.anglican.org
The Archdeacon of Exeter, Christopher Futcher, visited Kennford yesterday, where dozens of homes were flooded with water.
Villagers are staffing the Kenn Centre to offer hot drinks, showers and food to those who have suffered from the flood water.

Mr Futcher said: "I was impressed with the level of cheerfulness, fortitude and care for each other that is around in this small village community.
"Members of the village community, Kenn Church and villagers are pulling together and supporting each other. Volunteers are keeping refreshments on the go and this evening a free two course meal will be provided in the village centre for everyone.
"Kenn Church had their Christmas Fair on Saturday and it is are proposing to donate the proceeds, around £1300, to support emergency funding for those who are incurring high costs in finding alternative accommodation and replacement of many furnishings and appliances."
Prayers were said throughout the diocese on Sunday, and will be said in the Cathedral at evensong this week.
The Bishop of Exeter, the Rt Revd Michael Langrish said: "Once again, Devon has been hit by dreadful flooding – for many communities this is the second or third time. We are keeping in touch with all our affected parishes and it is good to see how our churches are responding to those in need at this time.
"We need prayers not only for the visible support services like the ambulance, fire and rescue and police who are under so much pressure, but also for all those hidden people in our communities who are doing so much to support those more vulnerable than themselves."

“Phew, i was beginning to worry for a moment but thankfully a speacial flood prayer has been written by the church - I didnt hear about this on the national news so i took the liberty of writing my own "Ahem...Dear god why did you flood us? sort yourself out an stop being gay, amen"”
