Bishop of Exeter visits trouble-hit Egypt for talks
THE Bishop of Exeter, the Rt Rev Michael Langrish, has visited the Grand Mufti of Egypt and the newly elected Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawdros II.
He discussed the importance of continued dialogue between their faiths.

He was invited to Egypt by the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Jerusalem and The Middle East, Dr Mouneer Anis, and has seen at first hand the confrontations between protestors and police.
With Dr Anis and the Pope, Bishop Michael discussed the religious response to the ongoing protests in Egypt, which he said have been caused by "a betrayal of the revolution, an unwanted Islamification, and the failure to deal with economic and social need".

Bishop Michael also visited the Grand Mufti, Dr Ali Gom'aa, who is the senior Islamic figure in the country.
As he attended talks, Bishop Michael said: "I could see thousands engaged in the midday prayers, overflowing the mosques and praying all along the streets."
Bishop Michael also visited a former curate from St Michael's Heavitree, in Exeter, Rev Adel Shokralla, who is now serving at a church in Cairo.
