Denleys Essence of India in Topsham, Cinnamon's in Axminster and Viceroy Dunkeswell were shortlisted in the contest, which culminated with a gala dinner attended by MPs and celebrities at the Battersea Evolution in London.

But the hopefuls were pipped to the Best Restaurant in the South West award by joint winners Spice Lodge, Cheltenham and The Mint Room in Yeovil.
