Book lovers can aid Oxfam with voluntary work
BOOK lovers are asked to volunteer in two charity shops.
Oxfam in Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton has launched a volunteering drive.
It is hoped hundreds of new volunteers will be recruited to work in the charity's specialist book shops and book departments around the country and to help stage this year's Bookfest — Oxfam's annual book festival which takes place in July.
Oxfam has around 22,000 shop volunteers, including 4,500 specialist book volunteers, who all give their time and skills to help raise money for Oxfam's lifesaving work around the world.
Rachel May, manager of the Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton shops, said: "As Oxfam's book business grows, so does our need for volunteers.
"It is thanks to our current team of eight committed book volunteers in our two shops that our book sales raise so much money for Oxfam's work, and we are really keen to attract new volunteers to join our fantastic team."
