WORK at Exmouth seafront's bowling alley complex is progressing and the facility is still on track to open within weeks.

Although not giving a precise opening date, the developer behind the project, Mark Quinn of Harlequins Leisure, said work on the ground floor of the three-storey facility, which houses 12 bowling lanes, five retail units and a café-bistro, is continuing as planned.

He said: "There have been no delays or problems. Issues are worked through as they happen. We're going forward as planned."

The final element of the bowling alleys is due to be completed within a fortnight.

"We've just got the ceiling and the flooring to complete and we'll be ready for action," added Mr Quinn.

On the first floor there will be a huge children's play zone, a crèche, two restaurants with outside terraces, including an upmarket eatery with a carvery and a smaller split-level function room. Work will continue on the upper floors when the ground floor opens.
