Brothers' big walk boosts charity funds
THREE brothers have raised more than £2,000 after completing a sponsored walk in memory of their late grandfather.
Adrian, Andrew and Thomas Webber walked 28 miles to raise the cash.
The brothers recreated a walk which their grandfather Ivan Webber undertook in 2005 when he was 70 The trek started and finished at Calverleigh Church, near Crediton. Adrian, 27, Thomas, 20, and Andrew, 25, all work in agriculture, as their grandfather did.
Their aunt Mo Furneaux, from Tiverton, said: "The boys started at 6.30am and were fortunate to have good weather for their walk. Various close friends and family joined them at different points , with a large group gathering to walk the last couple of miles with them. They were tired by that point, but knowing that their grandfather had completed the walk at the age of 70 spurred them on to complete it."
Mo added: "Their grandad would have been really, really proud of them."
All three boys are former pupils of Bolham Primary School and of Tiverton High School. Adrian has now moved to New Zealand, while Andrew lives in Tiverton and Thomas lives in the Mid Devon village of Washfield.
Proceeds from the brothers' walk will be split between St Mary's Church, Calverleigh, and the Mencap facility Bryher in Post Hill, Tiverton — two of the many local charities which Ivan supported.
