The Carlsberg South West Peninsula League escaped large scale postponements on Saturday but they did have one game abandoned – and it was not to do with the weather.

The Division One East encounter at Greenway Lane, between Budleigh Salterton and Axminster Town, was abandoned by the referee on 38 minutes, with Budleigh leading 3-0 at the time.

It is believed that a mass brawl brought about the referee's decision, and his report will now be forwarded to the Devon County Football Association.

The Peninsula League stated: "The outcome of the match will not be considered by the board until such time that misconduct proceedings have been completed."

Premier Division leaders Bodmin Town made good use of their FA Vase postponement by hastily arranging a League game at home to St Austell.

Darren Gilbert's side will have been delighted with the outcome as goals from Lee Doel, Sam Matthews, Olly Brokenshire and Shane Krac gave them a 4-0 victory over the visiting Lilywhites.

The three points were made even sweeter when the news filtered through that second-placed Plymouth Parkway had suffered a shock 3-0 home defeat by Liverton United.

Parkway only had themselves to blame as they failed to convert any of the first-half chances they created and Liverton made them pay as second-half goals from Jordan Lamm, Nick Rudge, from the penalty spot, and Stefan Chubb sent them back up the A38 with the points.

Bovey Tracey goalkeeper Tom Brooks had a superb game as the struggling Moorlanders held Elburton Villa to a goalless draw.

Four Cornwall Senior Cup games survived the weather with Division One West St Dennis taking pride of place as they won 2-1 at Premier side Camelford, with Carl Rickard scoring both their goals.

East Cornwall Premier League side Bude Town held Newquay until the 64th minute of their tie at Mount Wise but, once Josh Harris had scored, the Peppermints went on to win 5-0 thanks to further goals from Mark Vercesi (two, including a penalty), Danny Brook and Luke Weldhen.

Ryan Lucassi gave Callington Town a first-half lead at Helston Athletic but the home side hit back to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Hugh Howlett and Liam Eddy.

Torpoint Athletic required extra time to knock out Saltash United 4-3 at The Mill where Paul Baker, Tom Payne, Liam Thornton and Brian Stacey were on target for the hosts with the Ashes replying through Danny Zalick, Matt Cusack and Shane Jewell.
