Burt: Tiverton win was 'hardest for a long time'
TIVERTON'S win against Pirates Amateurs on Saturday was one of their hardest in recent times, according to chairman of rugby Charlie Burt.
The visitors travelled back from Penzance on the back of a 16-14 success that went down to the wire.

The Pirates kicked a penalty with two minutes to go to leave the match on a knife edge, but Burt's men closed the game out to secure the victory and four points.
"That was one of the hardest games we have had for a long time because they were a well-drilled, big side," said Burt.

"We are not going to come up against a bigger pack of forwards for a while – they must have out-muscled us by several stones – but we controlled the game up front after their early catch-and-drive try.
"We did really well to beat them as it was touch and go right the way through the game and the lead changed hands several times.
"The boys were chuffed as well because we turned around our defeat against them (20-8) at home at the end of September.
"You can't underestimate how difficult it is after a three-hour drive to fire from the kick-off.
"It was a good team performance, all 18 players played well."
Tiverton attacked from kick-off and, after Sam Smith was tackled just short of the line, the visitors won a penalty that Jimmy Atkins kicked.
Pirates Amateurs went into the lead not long after as they drove over from an attacking line-out.
However, with fly-half Liam Lewis putting Tivvy in good areas to attack from, the three-quarters worked Smith over the line for an unconverted try.
The home side kicked two penalties before the break to lead 11-8 at half-time and took the game to Tiverton at the start of the second period. Burt's men held firm and got back on level terms as Atkins slotted a penalty.
With Atkins putting another penalty into the corner, Tivvy's pack drove prop James Morrison over for another unconverted try.
With just two minutes left on the clock, Pirates Amateurs kicked a penalty to close the gap to 16-14 but Tiverton closed the game out to secure the four points on the road.
Lock Richard Tucker was Tiverton's man-of-the-match and Liam Lewis also impressed with his accurate kicking game.
