Bushin looks to reach Everett's 30-goal mark
TOP-SCORER Joe Bushin is hoping to become the first Tiverton Town player to notch 30 goals in a season for 15 years.
The former Dawlish Town hitman has been in blistering form this season, bagging 17 league goals to leave him top of the Southern League Division One South & West scoring charts.
Phil Everett was the last Tivvy player to break that barrier, bagging 33 in the 1997/98 campaign.
Tivvy have 20 league matches of the campaign left – excluding any potential play-off games – and Bushin is hoping to make them count.

"Somewhere up around the 30 mark would be nice. I think I've got around 16 or 17 so far, so a few more before the season ends would be good," he said.
"I think I got about 13 or 14 last season, so I have already done better than that. It's shaping up to be a good season.
"I just think we are creating more chances and so more is falling for me in matches and I am putting them away.
"I'm also in the right positions and getting a bit of luck in terms of things falling for me – it's more luck than judgement.
"I don't think we are playing particularly different to last season. The whole side is working hard and we are creating plenty of chances."
Bushin made a slow start to the current campaign, hitting just the one goal in the Yellows' first seven league and cup outings.
But things really took off from there, as he bagged six goals in his next five matches, and 16 in Tivvy's last 20 games.
And with plenty of healthy competition in Tiverton's ranks from the likes of Michael Nardiello and Owen Howe, Bushin is under pressure to keep firing on all cylinders.
"It doesn't really matter who the manager sticks up front. We've got good strikers on the bench and all of us can do a job on the day," he said.
"Dave (Pearse) and I seem to have struck up a good understanding. To be fair, we both work hard and get on well together and have scored plenty of goals playing together too."
Unfortunately for Bushin, Tiverton's recent form has suffered.
With no wins in their last six league games, their grip on a play-off position has loosened, and Bushin concedes the Yellows must improve quickly if they want to keep their play-off hopes alive.
"Play-offs are still the aim but we need to start getting some more wins on the board," said Bushin.
"We have been struggling recently because the pitches have been so soft and that hasn't suited our game at all.
"Hopefully they will get a bit firmer and we can get a few more wins because the soft pitches don't suit our passing style of play.
"We just need to keep working hard like we have been and hopefully we can keep on pushing for the play-offs."
