A VISION to establish a Devon sailing centre where able-bodied and disabled people can learn to sail together, has been unveiled.

Local business Sea-Swift has linked up with the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust and the Even Keel charity project to investigate providing an all-inclusive centre on the River Teign at Teignmouth.

They say it, could be a massive boost to the area and attract visitors from the UK and beyond.

A 'taster' week is being held in Teignmouth from tomorrow in a bid to gauge interest and financial support before further steps are taken to firm up the plans.

Quadriplegic sailor Hilary Lister, the first disabled woman to sail around Britain, will visit Teignmouth as part of the week.

The Even Keel Project Looks to link up with existing sailing clubs and other organisations to provide sailing centres of excellence for disabled and disadvantaged people.

The project provides Artemis 20 boats which have been designed and built to be accessible to all.

The week includes sailing, entertainment, a barbecue and live music.

There will also be demonstration races, including one by the RNLI, and water-based activities from TS Canonteign Sea Cadets, Teign Corinthians Yacht Club and Shaldon Yacht Club.
