South West Water were named winner of winners at an awards ceremony which aims to recognise the firms that achieve success through training their workforce.

The Exeter-based company picked up the top award as well as winning the Outstanding Commitment to Training (Large Company) award at the 2013 Excellence in Business Training Awards, which were held in Newquay on Friday.

More than 150 local business people attended the awards, which were being held for the sixth time and are sponsored by FalFish, Cornwall and Devon Media and Pirate FM.

The event was organised by Cornwall College Business.

Training Programme of the Year, sponsored by Pirate FM, won by Reflex Marine Ltd

Individual Achievement, sponsored by Midas, won by Kayleigh Radcliffe, of Klimek Jewellers

Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by Falfish, won by Henry Osborne, of The Greenbank Hotel

South West Water was commended for its new training programme that provides employees with an understanding of its business and strategy, as well as learning and development initiatives to enhance their personal and career development.

It also runs a large apprenticeship programme in partnership with Cornwall College.
