It was praised by judges after raising more than £15,000 and providing more than 500 respite breaks for carers.
Judges said: "This was a very well thought-out and put-together campaign, tackling a subject that few papers have yet delved into."
The campaign was launched in March last year to pay tribute to the unsung army of carers living in the Exeter area.
The aim was to fight for a better deal for carers and those they care for, and to provide a fund for trips, treats and days out.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has given it his support, along with Exeter MP and former health minister Ben Bradshaw.
In addition to this, the campaign was highly commended in the national industry Press Gazette Regional Press Awards 2009.
