Update: Horse killed in collision one of five ‘running wild’ on the A380 at Telegraph Hill

A Paignton woman was left with muscular injuries after her car collided with an escaped horse on the A380 at Telegraph Hill last night, leaving lanes in both directions closed for two hours.

Several horses were on the carriageway and were being looked after by police, whilst the casualties were being cared for by paramedics
The police received a call of five horses ‘on the loose’ and ‘running wild across the roads’ at 20:52 on Monday night, they then received a call four minutes later reporting the collision in the fast lane.
The horse, which died in the collision, was one of five that had escaped from a nearby farm. The Grey Peugeot hit the horse on the Torquay bound fast lane and the driver was described as ‘in shock’ at the incident.

The Fire service and Police were called to the scene where they found the four remaining horses contained by members of the public and a local farmer.
The owner of the horses was then called.

Devon and Somerset Fire and rescue service were called to a collision between a car and a horse on the A380 at Telegraph Hill last night.
At 20:59pm one fire appliance from Exeter Danes Castle and one from Exeter Middlemoor were mobilised to an incident were a single vehicle had collided with a horse.
No persons were trapped within the vehicle. Several horses were on the carriageway and were being looked after by police, whilst the casualties were being cared for by paramedics.
Crews made the vehicle safe from fire and assisted the police with scene safety.
