Channel Five's Milkshake! comes to Devon
A NUMBER of people will be largely unaffected by the news that, almost daily, there is a chance that Fifi, the Little Princess, B1 and B2, and Roary the Racing Car might not be able to make their regular television appearances.
But to a thousands, if not millions, of children this would be devastating. That is precisely why the moment when that terrifying prospect becomes reality during the Channel 5 Milkshake! Live Show, that the younger, and vast proportion of older audience members are so willing to play their part in helping restore them to telly land.
Anyone with a child under five knows how important Milkshake! can be in a morning routine, and presenter Derek Moran knows just how crucial it is that the live show he helped devise more than reflects the magic of the shows it features.
And in a tour that started in July last year and is not due to finish for another few months, it’s the positive feedback from the audiences that keeps Derek, along with fellow presenters Amy, Olivia and Jen coming back for more.

“Being in front of the camera is great,” said Derek, “But nothing beats the feeling you get when you see the reaction of the audience to what you’re doing. This is the most interactive show we’ve ever done and we’re all really proud of it.”
Dublin-born Derek has been part of the Milkshake! team for more than five years and was formerly part of Irish boyband D-Side which had three top-ten hits in the UK ten years ago.
He directed the show and as well as helping to produce and choreograph it, and appears on a rota basis depending on who has had the early shift live on Channel 5.
“We had a little break in November and December but it has been pretty non-stop,” he said, “The feedback has been really strong and we all love to get out there and help bring the shows to life.”
The live show is suitable for children aged three to seven years old and, alongside the presenters, features Little Princess and Scruff, Noddy and Tessie Bear, Roary and Big Chris, Fifi and Bumble and B1 & B2 – the Bananas in Pyjamas.
Derek said: “We’ve packed it full of new songs, songs regular viewers will be familiar with, funky dance moves and bags of audience interaction.”
It will be at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay on Sunday, April 21. The show starts at 1pm and more information, including bookings, can be made on 01802 299992.
