DEVON children's author Ellen Renner who wowed the literary scene with her debut book is in line for further recognition — this time for the sequel.

Her second adventure thriller City of Thieves follows her compelling first novel Castle of Shadows, which won the Cornerstones WOW Factor Award for New Writers.

The member of Exeter Writers was brought up in America and lives near Exeter. She said her latest novel centres on Tobias, (Toby), the male protagonist from her debut book.

It tells the story of a man on the run — from the father who betrayed him and the mother who could not comfort him.

The tale is also interlaced with him running from his own desperate fear.

But when he falls into the clutches of his uncle's sinister gang of thieves, his fears grow and Toby soon realises his nightmares have just begun.

The book will be published for the nine-plus age group tomorrow.

Renner grew up in the Ozark hills of southern Missouri and went on to train as a painter before turning to creative writing. She is appearing at the Paignton Green Festival on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 17, where she will be reading from City of Thieves.
