Housing officers are giving members of the public an opportunity to discuss housing properties for Exeter.

The senior staff members from Exeter City Council will be at St Steven's Church, High Street, on February 7 to talk with people about how these priorities can be achieved.

The council says housing is one of its "top priorities" and has pledged to meet the housing needs of the community as a driver for the economic growth and prosperity.

It claims to have a "strong track record" on new development with more than three times more affordable houses built over the last few years than the national average.

Coun Rob Hannaford, lead councillor for housing and community involvement, said: "Delivering prosperity and meeting local housing needs against a background of reductions in public spending will be a challenge. And there are tough decisions to be made in terms of what housing services in the City will look like in the next few years."

The views of residents gathered during the event will be used to inform the new housing strategy for the city.

An online survey is also available on the council website for people to give their views on what they think the priorities for housing in Exeter should be for the future.

“It's about time new, affordable housing i.e. affordable on the NMW for a single person, was created. And all those that complain should remember where their house came from. So please stop moaning.”
