A HOAX charity caller has been targeting residents in Exmouth. Police are investigating an incident which happened on Monday, February 6, on Halsdon Avenue.

Officers said a man was claiming to be collecting money for Cancer UK.

PCSO Ben Tithecott, said: "Police have carried out house-to-house inquiries in the area but if anyone has any information, please call us and quote crime reference KE/12/302.

"We would like to remind all members of the public, not just residents of Halsdon Avenue, to be mindful when answering the door to people collecting for charities.

"Genuine charity collectors will carry identification and will be happy to show it when asked."

Anyone with any information should call the police on the non-emergency number 101.
