In 2010 the service was threatened with closure due to cost-cutting measures, but the proposal was rejected by the BBC Trust. The audience has almost trebled since.

In third position was One Day Like This by Elbow, making an all-British top three.

Presenter Steve Lamacq counted down the Top 10 with the entries in the 100 scattered throughout the day.

The Top 10 in order were: Coldplay – Clocks; Arctic Monkeys – I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor; Elbow – One Day Like This; The National – Bloodbuzz Ohio; The Killers – Mr Brightside; The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army; The Flaming Lips – Do You Realize??; Johnny Cash – Hurt; British Sea Power – Remember Me; Radiohead – There There.
