Coldplay win at Grammys
COLDPLAY picked up three gongs at the prestigious Grammy music awards in the US.
The British band, whose lead singer Chris Martin is originally from Whitestone, near Exeter, won song of the year for Viva La Vida. Their latest album, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, collected the best rock album and best pop performance by a duo or group.
During the ceremony on Sunday night, Chris Martin joked they were not the hardest of rock bands, adding they were a little softer but just as charming.
Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends topped the global sales chart last year with 6.6 million copies sold.

Their previous three albums — X&Y, A Rush Of Blood To The Head and Parachutes — have sold more than 30 million copies.
The group are currently on a world tour, which culminates this September with two nights at Wembley Stadium.
They are set for more success at the Brit Awards later this month — they have been nominated for four gongs including best album and best single for Viva La Vida.
It was a good night for British acts at the Grammys, with former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, Radiohead, Adele and Estelle also picking up awards.
