ENTERPRISNG youngsters from Beacon Heath have helped raise money for the finishing touch to the new multi-purpose games area at Arena Park.
The £60,000 all-weather area complete with the latest play equipment has been the project of the Exeter Parks Watch group working with city's parks and open spaces team.
The money came from the Home Office's community development fund but an extra £5,000 was needed to pay for a matching fence.
That was where the local youngsters came in. They appointed four youth ambassadors and together they sourced a variety of funds and grants to raise the money.

The final £500 came thanks to a donation from the Arena Park Residents' Association, whose chairman Paul Sherwood said: "We are only a small group but we were delighted to do what we could to help."
Sue Lawrence chairman of Exeter Parks Watch said she was grateful to all those who had helped and particularly praised the youngsters for rallying round to finish the job.
The new play area is expected to be officially opened in the early spring.
