THERE have been several letters recently, all of them similar in tone and content, in which the writers attempt to discredit Hannah Foster, the prospective Conservative candidate for Exeter, for showing independence of thought and spirit rather than mindlessly toeing the party line.

Personally, I welcome the enthusiasm, self-belief and engaging personality of someone like Hannah Foster, who is untainted by spin and political posturing.

After the incompetence and muddle we've had to endure under the present Labour Government for the past 13 years, it is essential that we have these sorts of qualities in our new MP.

As the slogan declares, it's time for a much-needed change in Exeter.
