RENOWNED contemporary artist Paula Rego will be exhibiting her latest work at a Devon gallery.

Etchings and lithographs spanning over 20 years will be on display at the Brook Gallery, Fore Street, in Budleigh Salterton.

The exhibition runs from Sunday, July 12, to Monday, August 10.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1935, Paula travelled to England in the 1950s to study at the Slade School of Fine Art.

She made London her home with her husband, artist Victor Willing, in 1976, dividing her time between London and Portugal.

A Brook spokeswoman said: "This portfolio of work at the Brook celebrates her independent approach to the print medium and to its long association with storytelling.

"Paula is one of the leading figurative artists working today.

"She cleverly entwines her own experiences with those of dreams and fantasies.

"This series of original prints is inspired by modern and classic literature and the political and social realities of today."

The opening hours for the exhibition are 10.30am to 5pm, except on Sunday when it is closed in the mornings.
