Corr stars in Swindon win
BARRY Corr was the star of the show as Exeter City came out on top in a thrilling reserve encounter against Swindon Town yesterday.
The Irishman plundered a hat-trick against his old club as the Grecians won 4-3 at the County Ground, despite a treble from the hosts' Matt Ritchie.
Youngster James Norwood was the other goalscorer as City returned to the top of the Totesport.com Combinations League Wales and West Division.
There was even time for Scott Golbourne to have an effort ruled out for a foul in the build-up.
Ritchie opened the scoring on 12 minutes when he tucked away the rebound after his own shot had come back off the woodwork.
Norwood equalised for City when he capped an excellent team move by firing Stuart Fleetwood's pass into the bottom corner of the net.
Corr then put the visitors ahead shortly after the break when he converted a penalty after Fleetwood had been fouled.
And the Irishman went on to complete his treble, converting Neil Saunders' cross to make it 3-1, before producing a sublime chip that beat stranded Swindon goalkeeper Jakub Jesionkowski from long range.
Ritchie made the final few minutes a nervy affair for Exeter by bringing the score back to 4-3, thanks to a free-kick and a low shot, but City clung on for the win.
