Council bosses apologise after sending out thousands of wrong council tax bills
A Devon council has apologised after sending out thousands of incorrect council tax bills to residents.
Mid Devon District Council has discovered that many of the bills received early this week included figures that were not calculated correctly.
It meant the bills were between £2 and £5 bigger than they should be.
A spokesman said: "We apologise for this mistake and are taking steps to re-issue the bills as soon as possible with the correct lower amounts."
