MORE parking spaces have been created in a Devon seaside town with paint work.

Re-jigging some of Teignmouth's existing parking bays has created 15 new ones.

Former county councillors David Cox and Chris Bray noticed last year that some of the bays around the town did not make the best use of the space available.

Having drawn this to the attention of Devon County Council Highways department, their proposals have now resulted in seven extra spaces in Carlton Place and seven elsewhere in town.

Mr Cox said: "Of course we realise that this isn't going to resolve all of Teignmouth's parking issues, however it has to be a step in the right direction."
