A CANCER charity that helped raise £60,000 for equipment at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital is asking people to join it for a cup of tea.

The Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer is holding a cream tea at Michael Caines at ABode in Exeter on Wednesday, September 17.

It forms part of Chestnut Week, where the charity will be out and about raising awareness of the disease and the work it does throughout Devon and Cornwall.

David Squires, the charity's events and campaigns coordinator, said: “Last year we spent more than £100,000 on treating prostate cancer at Derriford Hospital and we also brought £60,000 worth of equipment at The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

“Without the continued support from the people of the South West, we would not be able to make such a difference to prostate cancer care in the region.

“Its success so far is a testament to what can be achieved if we work together as a community, and it is hoped that this event will be a sell out.”

Tickets for the tea cost £10 per person and are available from the charity's office on 01752 792736 or by emailing chestnut.appeal@phnt.swest. nhs.uk
