Crews tackle fire in Exeter University laboratory

The Fire Service was called to a report of a kiln on fire within an Exeter University building today.

At 15:15 this afternoon two Fire Engines from Exeter were sent to the blaze, which started in the Laver Building on North Park Road in the University grounds.

On arrival the crew confirmed that there was smoke coming from a kiln situated on the ground floor.  The crews removed it from its fuel source and took it to open air.

They also used a Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan to ventilate the premises.

No one was injured in the fire.
