I WRITE with reference to the article Hunts hope for a change in the law, Express & Echo, November 2.

I was upset by the glib remarks uttered by the two ladies from Honiton and Cullompton, particularly by the sentence "It is a lovely sight to see them set off across the countryside".

I wonder how she would describe the sight of a fox, disembowelled but still alive, writhing on the ground with the dogs still tearing at it. I have seen this on video and the expression on this poor animal's face of fear and agony I shall never be able to forget.

This after all is the prime object of the people who are part of the 'lovely sight' riding across the countryside.

Sometimes I am ashamed of belonging to the same species.

    “Sir
What you have seen on video is not a normal sight as the first hound to get to the fox whilst running would normally snap the foxes neck which is an instant death, the hounds might pull at the carcus after but it is extremley unusal for the fox to be alive, hunting is a much better way of control than shooting, snaring and poisoning, those three are indiscriminate and pain will happen”
