Derby day joy for the Chiefs
EMYR Lewis has warned Exeter Chiefs’ unbeaten record will go at Bristol unless they cut out their mistakes.
The full-back was delighted to beat former employers Plymouth Albion 30-24 on Saturday.

But he felt his side made too many errors — including giving away an interception try — as they made life easy for Plymouth.
Exeter travel to Bristol on Sunday as two of the three Championship sides yet to taste defeat this term go head-to-head.
And Lewis thinks the Chiefs will be the ones whose run comes to an end unless they sharpen up their act this week.
“It’s always satisfying when you get one over your old team,” said Lewis. “We’re chuffed with the result.
“It’s a pity we gave the bonus point away, but at this stage of the season a ‘W’ is a good start.
“It’s a huge South West derby and it’s always a tough game. When I came up here with Plymouth Exeter were in good form but they only won 11-10 — form goes out the window in games like this.
“When you give tries away with a 70-metre interception, the team are going to get their heads up and confidence goes through the team.
“We’ve got to cut that stuff out of our game if we want to beat the Bristols of this world — we can’t give the opposition chances like that.”
After racing into an early lead courtesy of Paul McKenzie’s try, Exeter had to twice come from behind in the second half to win.
Replacements Rich Baxter and Bryan Rennie scored the tries that mattered and Lewis said the side showed their character to win their seventh Devon derby in a row.
“It shows the character and it’s a win,” he said. “At this moment in time we’re going for wins and if the bonus point comes then so much the better.
“We’ve come off the field having won a South West derby and we’ve got to be happy with that.”
Lewis said the impact the replacements made on Saturday highlighted the depth of talent in Exeter’s squad.
After just four games this season, 30 players have featured in the matchday squad as head coach Rob Baxter rotates his personnel.
Lewis said: “We’re a strong squad of players, there are 36 players capable of starting in this side every week.
“Rob (Baxter) knows that and he’s willing to give guys a chance in certain positions.
“You could put two teams from Exeter out on the pitch and I wouldn’t be able to tell you what the score would be.
“That goes right through the squad, the character’s there, we’re a close-knit bunch of boys and we work hard for each other.”

“Bristol have not hit anything like the form they are hoping for so far this season.
They admit their narrow win at Bedford was very fortunate and was really down to poor kicking at goal from the hosts.
It can be argued though that a team that keeps winning whilst not on top form is a dangerous beast.
Should be a good game on Sunday although with the ridiculous play-off procedures at the end of the season it is nowhere near as vital as it would have been last season under the first-past-the-post-wins system.”
