Devon set for 600 new homes as mortgage market prompts Barratt schemes
A major house builder has identified the South West as a target and announced plans for 600 new homes across Devon.
David Wilson Homes, part of Barratt Developments, claims around 1,000 people will be employed during construction.
In what has been described as a "major boost" for the economy, seven new projects have been revealed: in Exeter, Plymouth, Newton Abbot and Ermington.

mortgage market had loosened the purse strings.
"The good news for home buyers is that the mortgage market is now improving and we are expanding our business," he added.
"There is a chronic shortage of new-build homes,
particularly detached family homes in Exeter.
"This has inspired the expansion of our David Wilson Homes brand into Exeter and the South West region."
