Browning, of Wilford Road, Exeter, admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm outside the Arena club in Summerfield Street, Exeter, in March and was jailed by Judge Francis Gilbert, QC.
The judge told him: "As a professional, boxer you know the damage you can do and it brings shame to professional boxing if you lose you temper and attack people in public places at night."
Alex Allsop, prosecuting, said Browning argued with Mr Chidgey inside the Arena club when the victim told him to stop pestering a woman who was in his party.
They squared up inside but were separated and ejected by bouncers and Browning then followed the other man and appeared at first to be walking past him.
He showed the judge CCTV footage of Browning turning suddenly and landing two punches on Mr Chidgey, who did not have time to defend himself, and continuing the attack when he was unconscious on the ground.
Mr Allsop said: "The victim suffered a fractured jaw which needed surgery to insert a plate. He also had three teeth removed.
"The operation was not successful and he needed a second one."
David Evans, defending, said: "My client wishes to apologise to the victim and to those who had to witness his behaviour.
"He is the first to admit that his problem is binge drinking. He let himself down very gravely in relation to the discipline required in a professional boxer."
