A FLOOD Relief Fund set up by East Devon District Council to help victims suffering hardship now stands at more than £20,000.

Donations from the public have amounted to £10,220 — a figure which has been matched by the district council.

The people of East Devon have also donated items of furniture and household goods to help those who suffered losses in the floods. Donated items include sofas, carpets, cookers, cupboards, tables and chairs.

A deadline of Wednesday, April 22, has been set for people still wanting furniture.

The district council contact is Paul Pendray on 01395 516551.

Flood victims needing help with council tax can also obtain advice by ringing district council staff on 01395 517447.

Donations to the relief fund can be made by sending cheques and postal orders to the district council offices at Sidmouth, visiting www.thisis exeter.co.uk/floods or ringing 01395 571777.
