Donavon brings surf sound to pub
NEWTON ABBOT'S Jolly Farmer has pulled off another major coup by securing cult singer-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter to play at the venue this summer.
Frankenreiter, a long-term friend and collaborator of Jack Johnson, will bring his surf sounds to the Farmer on Wednesday, August 8.
Frankenreiter, a Hawaii-based surfer and musician, recently released his fifth full-length album, Start Livin. The booking marks another step forward for the town centre pub, which hosted Newton Faulkner in March and is set to welcome former Housemartins and Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton. Frankenreiter will use the show to warm up for his appearance at the O2 Academy in Islington and the Boardmasters festival in Newquay later the same week. Glenn Powell, co-owner of the Jolly Farmer, said he was 'ecstatic' after landing another big name. "This has been in the pipeline for a while and it's fantastic news," said Glenn. Tickets £17.50.
