Dragons' Den investor Theo Paphitis has lent his support to a Delabole-based business, via his Twitter feed, Small Business Sunday (#sbs).

He re-tweeted a message sent by Karen Davey, helping her business, Just Bunting, gain exposure to 225,000 followers of the TV entrepreneur.

Within less than 24 hours, Mrs Davey's website had received more than 900 new hits and her most successful day to date, since setting up in business in April.

Mr Paphitis receives thousands of tweets from businesses on a weekly basis and chooses just six of his favourites to re-tweet on a Sunday evening and share with over 225,000 followers on Twitter.

Mrs Davey, who sells hand-crafted fabric bunting made from vintage fabrics, has also been invited to the exclusive #sbs 'winners' party in Birmingham at the end of March.

After working for a children's charity for six years, she was inspired to set up in business from her kitchen table, after obliging her ten-year old daughter's request for some bunting to brighten up her room.

She said: "I'd not touched a sewing machine for over 20 years, but soon realised that this would be a viable business and set out to make it a full-time venture."

Mrs Davey sells her hand-made products, which also includes appliquéd cushions and fabric-art pictures, from her own website and has established supply links with online retailers including Gift Wrapped and Gorgeous and Wood and Willow.

She also supplies a number of Westcountry gift shops, including Rick Stein's in Padstow, and hires out length of bunting for weddings and special events.

She received free help from Oxford Innovation in setting up her business, which she said provided her with a direction for her goals. She also runs sewing workshops from her home and "pop-up" workshops across Cornwall, hosting events such as hen parties and baby showers.
