Office staff had left for the day when the black car ploughed into the building at 7pm last night.
Partner in the legal firm Jeremy Wickham said: "The car ended up half way in to our office.
"Behind the wall where it smashed in to was a desk used by one of our lawyers and also a large photocopier which has been wrecked.
"It was very lucky that the office was closed when the accident happened. The driver was a 77 year old man whose foot apparently slipped on the pedals."

“I've nothing against automatics, I drive them fairly regularly with my job and they're great. They just don't seem to suit elderly people, many of whom have probably had a manual for many years then switch to an auto as they get on in years only to find that it is not an easy transition to make. If anyone knows if this was the case here I'd like to know.”

“Dunno what you've got against automatics. I drive one of each and the auto lets me concentrate on road condtions, etc. Waggly sticks and clutches belong in the past. Modern autos are just as economic as manuals; more so in some cases as you are always in the correct gear and the engine is running at its most efficient revs.”

“I'll have a tenner that says it was an automatic”
