Exeter City stayed five points clear of the sides chasing a place in the League Two play-off spots with a well-deserved draw against table-topping Gillingham.

Paul Tisdale made two changes to the side that had drawn 0-0 with Fleetwood on Saturday, recalling Mark Molesley to the starting line-up following a three-match suspension and bringing Jake Gosling into the right side of midfield.

Gillingham, who went into the match unbeaten in their last 11 away games, started the brighter of the two teams forcing a couple of early corners.

However, from the tenth minute onwards it was City who dominated the first half. Full-back Craig Woodman had a storming first 45 minutes finding Jamie Cureton with numerous long balls up from the defence.

It created a couple of scoring opportunities for the Grecians top scorer, but he poked one shot straight at Stuart Nelson before scooping another shot over the crossbar from 10 yards out.

Matt Oakley then hit an angled drive just over the top after Danny Coles had found him in space on the right side of the box.

In the second half the play was much more even, but City's rhythm was disrupted somewhat by the departure of Oakley with a dislocated shoulder.

Mark Molesley hit a shot wide from the edge of the box, before Scot Bennett stung the gloves of Nelson with a shot from 30-yards.

At the other end substitute Danny Kedwell looped a header of Artur Krysiak and just wide in the Gills best chance of the second half, but in truth neither side looked likely to break the deadlock following Oakley's departure and both sides settled for a point.
