The news of the signing will come as a welcome boost to manager Paul Tisdale who lost influential midfielder Matt Oakley on Tuesday night when he dislocated his shoulder in the 0-0 draw with Gillingham.

D'Ath has played two games on loan in League Two this season, one of which came against Exeter City when he scored the first goal in the Robins 3-0 win over the Grecians on October 27.

Exeter City have had some successful loan players from Reading in the past few seasons, with Welsh Under-21 international Jake Taylor playing 30 games for City in the 2011-12 season and goalkeeper Ben Hamer impressing during a spell at the club in 2011.

Scott Golbourne came to St James's Park from Reading on a permanent deal in 2009, which represented another good signing for City.
