Exeter Homeless Charity responds to freezing weather by re-opening in evenings
St Petrocks has responded to the recent floods and freezing weather Exeter is experiencing by re-opening in the evenings, stating from tonight.
On their website the homeless charity wrote:
“With night-time temperatures forecast to drop to below zero from this Thursday night, St Petrocks, in co-ordination with other city agencies, is planning to re-open in the evenings to provide shelter to rough sleepers overnight.
Currently the plan is to run this Winter Provision service until Sunday but it could go on longer depending on the forecast. St Petrocks will re-open at 6.30pm and have up to 11 rough sleepers in the centre where they can have a hot snack and drinks, watch a DVD or play board games before bedding down. In the morning, our clients will have a hot drink before leaving at 7am to allow one member of staff and an client volunteer time to get the centre ready for day staff at 8.30am. Last we provided 98 bed spaces over a 14 night period. “
