Exeter athlete proud of marathon performance
EXETER's wheelchair athlete Sarah Piercy is back home in Whipton after achieving success at the Bristol Marathon.
Sarah, who reaches an average speed of 13mph in her specially designed speed machine said: "It is my favourite race and it is local and reactively easy to get to.
"I know the course and there are some very tight corners, so tight wheelchair riders have to almost stop to get round which isn't nice at all."
Sarah said she now planned to take two weeks off. "That's the last marathon of the season and I have had quite a good year. Now I am working out wether to go for the London Marathon next year of the Great North Run - although that is quite expensive to get to."
