Exeter rail commuters count the cost of fare hikes
Exeter rail commuters are counting the cost of increased travel prices today after regulated fares across the country increased by an average of 4.2%.
Commuters who travel from Barnstable to Exeter will now have to pay up to £208 extra a year after yesterday’s price increase.
For people travelling to Exeter for work on a cheap return ticket five days a week will pay an extra £2 a week. This will add up to an extra £104 a year.
Those taking the same trip on a single ticket will pay an extra 80p. Over 52 weeks this will add up to an extra £208.

Those travelling between Plymouth and Exeter St David’s have also been hit by the increase now paying £3,000 for an annual season ticket about £125 more expensive than last year.
