Exmouth and Axe athletes impress
DAVE Stone was the first Exmouth Harrier to complete the 2010 Grizzly Run, finishing an impressive 20th in 2.46.43.
A total of 13 Harriers entered the gruelling 20-mile race, with Mike Musgrove the next to finish in 2.52.21 to clinch 44th place, while John Croome was 90th in 3.02.49.
Terry Oldham was 357th in a time of 3.32.36, Lorraine Croome finished in 381st place in a time of 3.35.05 and Emma Dupain was 384th.
Lyn Curtis led the Exmouth Harriers trio home in the Cub Race, finishing 50th in 1.35.03. Lorraine Gilson was 57th and Jim Wyatt was 93rd.
Elsewhere Andy Johnson completed the Duchy 20 in 44th place with a time of 2.34.37.
Hosts Axe Valley Runners also had a large number of entrants to the Grizzly and Alex Todd was the first of their contingent home as he finished a brilliant 25th in 2.48.0.
Ciaran O'Conner was 89th in 3.03.00 and joint-course designer Bernard Fry wasn't far behind, finishing 93rd in 3:03:30. Eleanor Wood was the first AVR lady home, finishing 246th in 3:25.00.
Emma Kiernan was the first AVR home as she finished 43rd in 1.31.11, while Steve White was 56th in 1.36.06 and Jane Calvert and Dave Braunton finished 74th and 75th respectively.
Away from the Grizzly, Luke Reed ran the Combe St Nicholas hilly road 10K and finished fourth in a great time of 38.54. Harry Moore won the over-70 title, finishing in 90.00.
