Unique and engaging acoustic folk duo Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin join in the fun at Show of Hands' very own festival by the seaside next weekend. The pair combine influences as diverse as English folk music, Indian classical and American blues using slide guitar, fiddle, harmonica, banjo and beatboxing. Their debut album, Singing The Bones, has won praise from the likes of Radio 2's Mike Harding.

Now in its 15th year, the folk heroes' signature shindig held at Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens on Dorset's Jurassic coast offers a feast of some of the hottest young acoustic talent including BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Newcomer Lucy Ward, plus Jim Moray, Jamie Smith's Mabon and Broom Bezzums.

Together with regular guest Miranda Sykes on double bass and vocals, singer songwriter Steve Knightley and his multi-instrumentalist partner Phil Beer will headline more than six hours of open-air entertainment. Concertgoers are invited to bring low-backed seating, rugs and picnics into the grounds, which open at 10am; entry to the West Lawn concert area is from 1.30pm and the show starts at 3pm.

Jurassic Folk's next guest night on Wednesday, July 4 features Paul Downes, one of the most respected artists on the British folk scene today. He is master of a dazzling array of guitar styles, but considers himself a singer of songs, rather than a technician. He has worked with Phil Beer, The Arizona Smoke Revue, Pete Seeger and, currently, The Joyce Gang. With eight albums with bands, three solo albums and more than 150 session credits under his belt, Paul has toured all over Britain, the USA and Europe.
