The latest in Philippa Mold's diary

July 8, 2009

Hmm, stayed the same! I feel a pattern emerging here. It is one thing being full of good intentions on Tuesday evening; this lasts until Wednesday evening, and then my eating slowly deteriorates for the rest of the week, until I end up not having gained weight, and being grateful for it!

Not so many in class last night as the holiday season has well and truly begun. Sharon chatted about Italian food and cooking, and about how the clever use of fruit and vegetables can make some lovely dishes at a low cost in points. Must try and convince husband that peppers will not give him indigestion if eaten as part of a casserole.

Walked into work as usual and then spent the afternoon doing a training session on Excel to brush up on my skills, as I will be entering the job market shortly. Power to the grannies. Spend the evening working on my CV and eating lollipops.

Woke up with a jolt because dog is barking at the curtains which are flapping in a gale-force wind. Just as well he woke me as I had forgotten to set the alarm. Time enough for a walk around the block with him, and then home for some cereal for breakfast. Swift gallop into work and resist the tempting breakfast smells wafting up the stairs. It helps having had cereal just an hour ago.

Lunch of a salmon salad followed by yoghurt and fruit and succumb to a lift home. Visit fave bar steward and have a crab salad. No chips.

No need to get up early except dog has other ideas. After a walk we go into town to do the usual chores and then off to Otter for lunch. This time I was wildly different and had an open sandwich of cottage cheese and peach slices which was delicious. Husband, not being quite so adventurous, had his usual ham and salad. No ice cream either, which wasn't difficult as the ice cream hut was closed.

Raining all afternoon so decided against going anywhere else, but promised dog he would go to Exmouth tomorrow.

Chicken butties for supper followed by wine and lollipops during the evening while watching telly.

Much better weather today so take dog to Exmouth as promised and ended up in the Harbour View with a bacon butty and a Kit Kat for husband and a toasted teacake, lavishly buttered, and a Twix for me.

Home to spend the afternoon reading the papers and plotting next weekend's barbecue party or not (depending on the weather).

Supper of a not very healthy bag of chips with ketchup and vinegar. 10 points.

Managed to dodge the showers going into work. I have quite a foodie week in front of me. Lunch with lots of colleagues on Wednesday, our leaving jolly on Friday — with champagne — and then my barbecue or not on Sunday.

This is no excuse for pigging out all week, so start in an orderly manner and have porridge for breakfast then a home-made chicken sandwich for lunch (since I am venturing into town for another training session, and sometimes only a butty will do) as opposed to a salad. Blunder through my Excel assignment and catch the bus home.

Resist the urge to comfort eat and make a curry followed by a lollipop. Points for day: 20.

Weigh day today. I was nearly 3lb lighter when I weighed myself on Sunday, so you never know! Back to my usual porridge for breakfast and salad for lunch routine.

Ohh stayed the same! I had hoped for a loss, but think the trips to fave hostelry and Otter have taken their toll. Must do better. But not this week.
