A MAJOR Christmas fair will be held next week for all those planning to go green for the festive season.

The South West Christmas Without Cruelty Fair proved a major success last year and is returning to the Corn Exchange in Market Street on Saturday, December 6.

Organised by Animal Aid, it offers a unique chance to buy Christmas gifts in one day, knowing that purchases do not cause harm to animals, humans or the environment.

Only organisations and companies that are campaigning for a kinder and less violent world are invited.

According to organiser Mark Gold, there will be lots on offer for anybody interested in cruelty-free living or concerned about animal protection, green issues and human rights.

Mark said: "We were really pleased with how popular last year's show was with exhibitors and visitors alike, and we're delighted to be coming back to Exeter.

"Everybody seemed to enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere and this year we're looking to put on an even better event.

"It's going to be the perfect place to find unusual and cruelty-free gifts and cards and a great day out for people of all ages.

"Products on sale at the Christmas Without Cruelty Fair will include Fairtrade clothing, handmade chocolates, cruelty- free cosmetics and make- up and a great range of renewable energy products.

"There will also be vegetarian food, courtesy of innovative local caterers Happy Cow.

"At midday, there will be a performance by the Crediton World Music Choir, returning by popular request with their vibrant harmonies and songs from all over the world."

The fair will run between 10am and 4.30pm. Entry is free but voluntary donations will be welcome.
