Festivities supported cancer fund
CHRISTMAS came early for Macmillan Cancer Support, which received £1,660 raised at a festive charity evening held in the Culm Valley.
Hembury Court, in Broadhembury, between Cullompton and Honiton, was the venue for the event, which boasted a raffle with luxury prizes and a range of stalls offering Christmas gifts.
Mandy Persey, who runs Hembury Court as a luxury holiday retreat with husband Richard, said: "We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and, judging by the feedback we've had from those who attended, so did everyone who came along.
"The carol singing was a real highlight; it was very uplifting and light-hearted. It definitely put us in the festive mood.

"We'd like to thank everyone involved for their support and helping us to raise this significant amount for Macmillan."
Macmillan is the chosen charity of Premier Cottages, an organisation of independent self-catering holiday cottage owners, which includes the five-star Hembury Court.
Angela Lowe, Devon fundraising manager for the charity, said: "I was thrilled with how the evening went and the real community spirit. Mr and Mrs Persey and their staff worked really hard."
